There is outline agreement with Defra that, should foot and mouth disease ever break out again, camelid units can be regarded as isolation centres provided they meet suitable conditions and have been inspected by the local DVM. Download a draft letter for owners to send to their DVM for inspection
Defra has announced that, with effect from 1 October 2007, guanacoes and vicunae have been removed from the list of animals requiring a Dangerous Wild Animal Licence.
